Paramedics were called to a unit in Charlestown, at Lake Macquarie in the NSW Hunter region, at about 12.30am on Tuesday morning, where they found the young boy.

A teenage boy has been found dead inside an apartment, as police arrest a 24-year-old man in a car park. 
At about 12.30am on Tuesday, police were called to a unit in Charlestown, at Lake Macquarie in the NSW Hunter region, following reports a teenage boy was found unresponsive.
Officers found a 16-year-old boy dead inside the unit. 
Police established a crime scene at the apartment block (pictured) and arrested a 24-year-old man in a restaurant carpark in nearby Thornton a short time later
Police established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the teens death. 
A 24-year-old man was then arrested in a restaurant carpark on Weakleys Drive in nearby Thornton at about 2.10am. 
He was taken to Maitland Police Station before being transferred to the Mater Hospital for treatment. 
After being discharged he was taken to Belmont Police Station where he is currently assisting police with their inquiries. 
Police said the pair are known to each other. 
Investigations are ongoing.
